Default 87 k5 electrical issue

I was driving it the other day and noticed I had 8-10 volts. I shut it off to visit a friend and go to leave and try to start it and it cranks slow for a second then here a pop and saw a small amount of smoke come out of the passenger side under the hood. Now there is no power to the dash, power locks, power windows and the starter won't engage. I have headlights and dome light. What could be the problem?

Blown fuseable link on the master wiring harness could be an issue. The low voltage could be caused by a bad voltage regulator (which is built into your alternator). The fusable links are typically within the first 3 feet of your wiring harness which comes off of the battery and might connect to a junction block and separate from there. It might be on your inner fender mounted somewhere up top. Hope this helps you.
