Unhappy 87 S10 Passenger window is crooked.

1987 S-10 Blazer with 120,000 miles.

The power window on the passenger side goes up and down crooked.

When going down, the front starts down first while the rear stays up. I immediately stop because I don't want to take the chance on breaking the glass. When I try to "roll" up the window the back starts up while the front stays down. I physically take hold on the front edge of the glass and pull up on it to help keep it level.

I have removed the door paneling but I can't get a good view of the inner workings. I've called the local dealership and they want $105 just to take a look at it and diagnose the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas what is, or isn't, happening?

you have some plastic clips on each side of the window. they hold the window straight. Im trying to find a picture of em for you,or a part #

edit :

heres what they are. write down the part # and go to autozone etc and they can get it for you.

Talking I appreciate the help

Thank you for the quick response and info. Since you're are in "the know", can you point me in the direction of getting the instructions on how to install them? Or is it really self evident in how to replace them?

Thanks again!

once you get them out of the guide rails, they simply fold over and snap together. They are usually a pain in the butt though. I havent touched em in years,so my memory on everything is gone.

I just gone out again to look at the situation and I just don't get it. The solution looks good on paper but looking at the glass/window I see the long metal guides for the front and back of the window. They're like the letter "U" that the glass glides in. The problem isn't that the glass is falling out of the track, it's just that it doesn't go down level.

I looked pretty thoroughly but I couldn't see the old plastic guides nor where they might could go. I sure wish you were here!

You stated that they "fold over and snap together." They fold over what, exactly?

Sorry for asking so many stupid questions. I do appreciate your help.

the clips probably fell into the door. the clips are a black v shaped plastic pieces maybe a inch or 2 long. they clip on the actual glass window and then snaps into the u shaped silver rail.

so the clip holds the window, against the guide. and the clip slides up and down in the rail channel while holding the window. Dont worry about the stupid questions,i was just as dumbfounded on the situation as you are when my whole window fell into the door and shattered the first time it happened to me. lol

Ooh, ouch! Having a broken window would really be a bad thing to deal with. I hope I have luck with my repair.

Thanks for all your assistance. I will give your advice a shot. Have a great weekend.
