98 Blazer no start after driving for long periods
I have a 98 Blazer with several ongoing issues. I'm not sure if they're all related or just coincidentally appeared around the same time. The codes thrown have been inconsistent and at last check were P0171 and P0174. The car has been running rough intermittently, as if it's sputtering. It is significantly worse when the humidity is high or it is raining/has been raining. Within the past month, I've had the car refuse to restart twice after driving for awhile. When I turn the key, all the lights come on the dashboard, but there is no sound at all of it attempting to turn over or starter clicking. Several parts have been replaced in an effort to resolve the issues: EGR valve, PCV and grommet, MAF sensor, MAP sensor, ignition coil and coil wire, distributor cap and rotor, Bank 1 oxygen sensor. I had suspected a vacuum leak for awhile because it makes a go-kart like sound, but also toying around with the idea of an electrical/ignition issue. Maybe ignition control module or crankshaft position sensor? Fuel pump? Fuel injector? I'm stuck and I desperately need to pass inspection and resell the thing so I can get a more economical vehicle. Thanks in advance for any advice!
I think you are looking for a singular problem - in your case i think you have more than one thing going on... - the sputtering issue can be related to fuel pump---test the pressure..
the not starting when running for a while - may be heat dependent - you solenoid on the starter- can just be going--- i would look here , - try shorting the starter when it wont start next time -- this will help rule out the obvious..
