Electrical bug, anyone know the fix?
My new to me 01 Jimmy is having an issue. While driving, the ABS and brake idiot lights come on. Nothing feels different, just the lights. They eventually go away and may not return for a day or two.
Anyone know the problem and hopefully a fix?

when the brake light is on check your parking brake obviously but also go into the engine compartment and look at the ABS valve array and there should be a 2 wire connector between the master cylinder and the ABS... disconnect that and look to see if the light went off.... if it did it means your proportion valve is not centered. as for the abs light could be a sensor in the front hubs or a bad board or bad pumping motor... or just a gitch! good luck

I would take a listen for a front hub bearing on its way out
Usually the bearing failure causes failure of the ABS sensor
If you can find a vacant road where you can safely drive a slalom coarse at about 40 to 50 mph
Drive the slalom and listen for noise when the weight transfers from side to side
If noise occurs when the weight transfers onto the wheel and goes away when the weight is lessened look closer at that hub bearing
Usually the bearing failure causes failure of the ABS sensor

does this year have the sensors integrated in the hub assembly???
