AHL disable issues
I know this subject get's beat'n to death, but I'm having a strange issue that I can't seem to find a similar instance of it happening and a fix to it.
I'm a control freak and I can't stand the DRL and AHL on my 2004 Blazer LS... I disable the DRL by bending the prong on the relay in the under hood fuse box and that fixed that. Then I threw a 2.2k ohm resistor in the spot where the light sensor is in the speaker cover, and that did in fact turn off the auto headlights, but that immediately started another problem. After I added the resistor, the headlights started not turning on AT ALL until I would hit the dome override button 4 times and hear the chime. I was dealing with that for a while, because at least then the headlights wouldn't come on automatically first thing in the morning on my way to work. Still irritating though because it never worked like everyone else claims it works on theirs...
Now to add to the complication, I recently did the quad beam mod by grounding the solid yellow wire on the low beam harness on the driver's side headlight. That did make the quad beam mod work, but it opened up another can of worms. Now, as soon as the ignition is turned on, the headlights come on, even with the resistor in the light sensor place. I can shut them off by hitting the dome override button 4 times, but them I'm back to square one basically lol. Just for kicks I took the resistor back out and just plugged the light sensor back in, and it works just like it did with the resistor in it...
So to sum up:
*DRL disabled by bending relay prong
*Quad beam mod by grounding low beam wire
*Low beams come on with ignition (can disable by hitting the dome override button 4 times)
*resistor in light sensor doesn't effect anything it seems...
Any insight?
