Default Ashtray light socket

I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer 4 door 2wd that I've owned for a few years now and just realized there is a light for the ashtray. I took it all apart and cleaned the ashtray up. The bulb was of course blown so I removed it from the socket and replaced it with a known working bulb (tested prior) and before putting it all back on together I did a quick test assuming its tied into the interior lights/headlamp switch I turned it on and no light. Even rolled the light wheel all the way up to turn on the dome and under lights and still nothing.

I'm assuming its a wiring issue somewhere. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Could the socket just be bad? I know it seems silly because its just an ashtray light but its one of those things that will drive me crazy until I can fix it haha.

Thanks guys!

Oh forgot to add, the lighter portion works perfectly fine.

Did you turn on the headlights? It might be tied into that circuit like for the one that dims the OEM radio buttons and turns on the backlights to the steering wheel audio controls and headlight switch.

Yup i did and nothing made it turn on. The bulb is good but apparently somewhere in that circuit is bad or the socket itself.
