Default bcm swap?

im trying to get keyless entry in my 2000 jimmy that never had it before. done a lot of reading, and have a pretty good idea of what im doing. my only question is, instead of paying the stealership to program my bcm to recognize the rke can i swap the bcm out of the donor truck (same year) without running into problems? thanks

If I remember correctly, the replacing of a BCM and/or PCM requires programming to match the remaining component. If you just swap the BCM, the PCM may lock down, resulting in an inoperative vehicle until you get them acquainted (programmed). So in the end, programming is required so why not just get the BCM programmed to recognize the RKE!
