Default Blower Switch

The blower on my AC only works on setting 4. 1,2, and 3 do not work at all and when I turn it to 4 it blows full blast. Its a little annoying and I dont know what to do.

2 things....could be either your switch itself not noticing to switch levels and you need a new switch...or its your cable that adjuststs from hot to cold...it might be called the temp door or blend door cable..something along those lines...fyi..not that expensive of a fix

Classic symptoms of a bad blower motor resistor pack.

Which truck are you working on? Your sig says '99, but your garage link under your username says 1991...

Blower motor resistor, bout 40 bucks at autozone if I remember correct. Gotta lay on your back and take out the blower motor to get at it.

If we're talking about his '99, it is accessible under the hood on top of the HVAC box.

Yeah its my '99. Is this a relatively simple fix? I'm not a very experienced mechanic and know very little about this problem.

Are there numbers around the temperature **** on your HVAC controls or just blue & red? If blue and red, yes, it is simple. Worst part is that you'll have to cut the protective rubber cover over the HVAC housing under the hood. Use the search function to find further details. A term like "blower+motor+resistor+replace" should get you the results you are looking for. There is even a how-to in the Tech Article (DIY) section.
