...have owned blazer for almost ten yrs and did not know that switch to "on" position gives reading of charge system status at the little gauge.

Mine shows just between the straight up and the quarter mark to the left. Only noticed this after noticing while driving that charge needle showed barely to the minus side of that gauge.

How urgent is this indication? Should I just have a mechanic scan? New alternator installed seven years ago, and honestly do not remember symptoms that led me to have it done.
