Default Clock will not turn off, draining new battery!

I'm experiencing a new problem with my 1997 Blazer. The battery kept going dead, so I replaced the alternator and battery. It still goes dead, and I've found the reason; the clock stays on after the key is removed! The radio also does not required the key to be turned on. I have not changed anything othe than the batt/alt, the radio is the factory unit, I have never played with the wiring. I'm hoping to figure this out soon, It's a major inconvenience! Thank you all, in advance...

You need to take a good look at your ign switch accessory power.. if it's not that, it's a diode fail in the radio itself.

I checked those out previously, there was no real solution to the problem, other than pulling the fuse & having no radio.

Know anyone with a truck like yours? You could try swapping radios to see if the problem stays or follows the radio.

Replace the factory radio with a aftermarket that has a removable face. Once the face is off the power is broken to it so it shouldn't drain the battery anymore.

But if you don't want to go that route then do what Kyle said and swap factories with someone and see what happens.

If it follows then its the radio. If it stays with the other radio in then its your wiring
