Default Dead battery

So, a few months ago I noticed that the overhead light wouldn't go off. I got a dead battery because of it, so I removed the bulb (kind of shattered it... )

Yesterday morning I had another dead battery. I unplugged the light under the hood because my dad thought that might be an issue with it (it always blinks, like it has a short).

And before that, my glovebox light stayed on and wouldn't go off, my neighbor actually took it out.

So my question is, why did my overhead light and my glovebox light stay on 24/7? And possibly my engine light?
