have a serious head scratcher on my hands. driving home from a friends last night i noticed my blower fan stopped working. still some "go fast heat" but no real push. turned it off and on wouldnt work. didnt think much of it but left the switch on and after a couple mins i notice i had no dash lights. just the tach was working. overhead computer froze, no fuel gauge, speedo etc. weirdest part was i had no torque converter. revs shot up a bit and hung there. turned the heat off and revs drop and every light on the dash lit up, like i had just started the truck. heat was fine into work today, back to problems on the way home. will happen everytime heat is switched on when its acting up. sorry to be long winded, just wanted to be clear. hopefully one of you smart fellers can send me in the right direction. thanks in advance.

The thing with the torque converter sounds like it goes in and out of lockup when the other problems occur. Sounds like it's time to pull the dash apart and dust off the multi meter! Sounds like something is shorting and bypassing the dash lights, etc. Just remember: when the smoke gets out of the wires, things usually don't work anymore.

ya it will go in and out with the flick of the switch. im a bit of an electrical moron so im not even sure where to start. i have no idea what would tie heater, dash lights and torque converter together. kinda hoping someone has had a similar problem to get an idea where to look. no smoke so far lol... fingers crossed.
update: i have completly torn my dash apart and i havent been able to find anything wrong. i did take the underhood fuse block totally apart and everything looked fine. grased everything to be sure and put it back together. noticed the ground was in pretty rough shape. put a new end on and grounded it properly. anyone think that might have been it? i dont want to put the dash back together to test it if ill have to pull it apart again. kinda wondering if it could be ignition switch related.
