'Mornin All.... I've been driving S-10s since 1990. Started w/ an '89 2D 4WD (rolled it into a ditch a month after I repainted it, black ice), a '99 4d 4WD (sold it w/ 235k on the clock), REALLY nice '02 4d 4WD (t-boned when another driver blew a red light), and since a couple months ago a really nice '98 4d 4WD out of Fla, 114k miles. A few oddities w/ the '98. . . things I've never encountered in 30 years / 400k+ miles of S-10 driving & repairs:
First: see the (lousy) photo - this button is in the headliner by the driver's left ear. There seems to be something behind it that occasionally makes a buzzing noise, what the heck is it???
----------
Second: the trip odo resets to zero when the ignition key is shut off. Looked in the manual only to confirm this isn't how they normally operate (I knew that...) Aside from this, the inst cluster seems to be A-OK.
----------
Third - Cruise control doesn't work. Haven't changed the brake pedal switch yet, but that switch seems to work OK w/r to the lights. For $10, I'm going to change it. Assuming that's NOT the issue, what is the most likely culprit to fail? I checked the fuse panels under the hood & left side of dash, fuses all OK.
Thx rtk3
So that 'occasional buzzing' is the teenytiny fan?? Makes sense, first Blazer I've had w/ the temp-specific climate control system. I'd like to meet the 'genius' that put it by the drivers' ear! Thanks for the info! rtk3

That button is the screen protecting the fan that draws air across a thermistor that provides feedback to the Computer Controlled Climate system.
