Default fog lights

I updated my gmc jimmy headlights to the version that has the lower half orange, top half clear, and it has the built in fog light as an oval shaped clear bubble in the lower orange half. obviously i dont have the headlight switch that has the built in toggle for those fog lamps, but i know i can buy it and put it in, and it looks like the plugs on the back are the same, but would is there a way to verify that i have the wiring there for it?

or would it be safe to assume there is no wiring for it where it plugs into the back of the switch because there is no bulb socket or wire to plug into the headlamp housing already?

if that is the case, would it be too much of a struggle to run a wire from the battery to the back of the switch and make the factory integrated switch work, and i'd be better off just putting a generic toggle in somewhere? i just like things looking clean but if its too much of a pain in the butt ill just put a toggle in, no big deal.

i plan to put HID's in that slot, so i want to wire it up.

this is what i have

this is what i want to install.

The fog lights are controlled by a relay in the underhood fuse panel. Might want to look and see if the empty socket actually has all 4 terminals in it. If it does, the harness already exists in your vehicle. If not, you've got your work cut out.

if i recall, there were some other posts stating that if you wanted to use the stock switch, you would have to do some serious reprogramming of you computer. Granted you could modify the switch to overcome this. but do a search on adding fog lights and you'll find some answers regarding this mod.

I'm about to do the same to mine because I looked and the relay and harness is already there, I plan on doing the same and put hid's there plus the quad beam mod. I figure with 6 hid's if I find myself in a dark spot it won't be dark long

it looks as though i have a relay already? ive never done anything on a relay box before, so all i see is a gray box in the location that is designated for fog light. and i also have a fuse near it that is also designated for a fog light.

does this mean that i have the appropriate wiring for the fog light, or is it possible the grey box in the location of the fog light relay is just a blank?

am i supposed to take it apart? i didnt want to pull on it and break it since ive never messed with a relay panel before

You have to get your BCM programmed to use your factory switch. sometimes it might not even work and it costs around 90-100 that to re-program it. the best way is to do your own wiring and switch.
