Default hatch&lock questions

Hello all I have a 2000 two door4x4 blazer I recently bought& the remote for the locks didn't work&when I opened it up to replace the battery the inside looks broke. Is there a way to get a replacement besides a dealer? Also when I push the button in the truck to unlock the hatch it will lock again before I can get back there to open it,is it supposed to do that? Thanks ahead of time!

You can get replacement remotes off Ebay, and there are several places on line that sell them. Search for "keyless remote". A quick search of Ebay turned up some that sell for around 30 dollars including shipping.

They'll come with instruction on programming it. I ordered one for my Z71 and I don't remember the exact sequence, but it was something along the lines of holding certain buttons down on the remote while unlocking the doors from the inside.
