Default Hella Fog Lights

Has anyone fit Hella 500 (round) or 550 (rectangular) fog lights to their Blazer (or Jimmy) without mounting them to a Bull Bar or Brush Guard? Has anyone changed the wiring on the stock fog light switch to make it more useful for aftermarket fog lamps?
I'm curious about mounting the lamps and being able to utilize them without the headlights being on. Headlights just create glare in fog where as the fog lights are below fog level.
Suggestions?

i can run my fogs on the blazer with just the parking lights on, or with the headlights.

I'll have to check and see if that's the case with my blazer. On my Jimmy, the actual headlights had to be on.
