just installed a set of hids in the hi and low beem and they work fine but when i turn off the blazer they wont shut off till i flick on the hi beems? first time i ever had this problem with an hid install and help will be perfict

 

How could they stay on with the truck shut off unless you have the head light switch to ON?

 

the light switch in on auto and i never hard of this before got me stumped

 

I'm not sure by any means but it seems it woudl have to be something with the ignition switch. How else can the headlights stay on when the truck is off & key removed? You said the lights are in the auto mode, which is bottom left I believe.
Either sonething is grounding out that switch, your flash to pass/signal switch or in the ignition.

Got it all worked out it was the relay from the stock light had them wired for 4 of them come on with the hi beem un plug the relay and best kind thanks for the help for who posted

 

Ok I got a hid kit from hidextra from wife for christmas and im trying to figure out the extra wire harness thats on the bulb side after the rubber grommet. Do i just cut the extra 2 wires and pull them out of the grommet?

 

NO NO NO NO NO

Those are to allow you to put the ballasts 14" away from the lights.. Those extra wires go between the ballast INPUT and your stock lights connector at the bulb... It looks like you dont need them I know, but wait till you are sitting there going "Now how do I get this wire plug from the back of the old lights all the way up to where I mounted the ballasts"

If you remove those, you have to put the ballasts where the wire plug is, which wont work.

DONT CUT THEM OFF

Install all your stuff, and you will see exactly why those are there when you get to the last steps.

That rubber gromet is there for those vehicles that have the bulbs INSIDE of a light casing around the lights, so you can make a hole for all those wires and then seal it off. (Eg: New Dodge RAM) On the RAM we had to actually take a cover off the back of the housing before we could even see the bulbs and wires... We made a big hole in those covers so the HID stuff can come out the holes to the ballasts, but it allowed us to seal off the housing and make it look like its factory...

The gromet can be cut off if you dont use it, but you WILL be using that wire in question...

 

Thanks ohsofly so that grommet doesnt get used on the s10's then. That totally makes sense for the wires it was just the way the wires are fed through that grommet. Thanks for the great help.
