Default HIDs Acting Up?

2000 gmc jimmy 4x4 4-door. 8000k HIDs with the 55 watt power series ballast and the hid relay wire harness from hidextra.com. Disabled DRLs&AHLs.

Ive had it happen to me twice in the last week and a half where I turn on my headlights on and they take about 3-5 seconds to turn on, and then with in 2 minutes they just shut off (got me pulled over once, lol). So i have to turn the switch off and wait about a minute, turn them on and they power back on like normal. They are wired directly to the battery and I always have the vehicle fully started before i turn my lights on because i know how HIDs dont like the "power surge". Anyone have this problem before or have an idea what might be up?

^This, unless they turn red before shutting down. That would be a ballast ignition phase issue.

i checked all my grounds and they are all fine. and it happened to me agian last night, i didnt notice any red when they shut off on me. So i guess my question is, whats an ignition phase issue? and what do i do to fix it?

It's probably not that if they both shut down. And if it is, it really isn't something you can fix.

I'd check the harness. Pull the relay and see it it is working correctly, wiggle wires. That kind of thing.

so.... i feel like a HUGE idiot!!! I checked all my grounds and they were all fine but where i spliced the positive for my HID harness into a wire i did a crappier job than i usualy do, lol. So that was loose and causing my problem (I hope!).... so if anyone wants to knock me up side the head i completly understand, lol.

So once i get around to doing The Big 3, I want to get an Optima Battery becuase then i can use the side mounts like normal, and then the top posts for Accesories. and then i shouldnt have to worry about stupid things like this happening to me.
