Default How to remove tail lights on 2dr 2000 chevy blazer?

I can get the top screw of the tail light on but one of the bars for the gate is blocking any chance of getting to the 2nd screw, do you have to completely remove the gate to get the tail light off?

while i haven't changed the TL's on a 2 door, i have removed them from a 4 door that had a TG like yours.

i really don't remember it being that difficult to remove the screws. have you tried lifting the bar as you lift the gate? might just be the clearence you need to get @ it.

post a pic of the problem if you need.

No, you can unbolt one side of the tailgate support and swing it out of the way. i use needle nose pliers to hold one side of the nut then wrench the other. if you dont hold it, it will just spin.

Are you referring to the struts? You can just pop the metal tab off the top side of the strut, and drop it out of the way.

that's not my car but the diagonal bars holding up the gate is what i'm referring to....on the blazer they aren't so flimsy looking and one is completely blocking the bottom bolt

Yeah that's the struts. Just pop the top of the strut off. It'll give you plenty o' room.

i hope not-'cause it's a truck in the pic!

seriously though, if you're gonna look for a pic to show us what you're refering to, you should @ least grab a pic of the right truck.

that's a 1st gen, in case you didn't know.

in your last pic, you'll notice that there is a small metal clip-exactly the same as the ones on your rear window pistons. use a small standard screw driver (that's the flat one), and gentle pry it out. then pull the piston off the pivot ball.

easy-peasy.
