Default Ignition stays on with key completely out.

Here is my problem as abruptly as I can state it. Hopefully someone will be able to point out the issue immediately.

97 blazer 4.3 v6 auto 4x4:

#1 problem - If I hook a charged battery up, the daytime running lights automatically come on, as well as the cluster lights, only a couple of them, as if the key is in the ignition in the turned "on" position ...there isn't a key even in the ignition. I have already replaced the ignition switch, no change at all.

#2 problem - I'm not getting any kind of fuel pump sound, nor can I start the vehicle, unless I spray starting fluid and it'll try but won't stay running.

I've narrowed it down so far to have something wrong with the ignition and fuel system but I'm unsure how to diagnose the problems at hand.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

crank sensors are common on these trucks for a no start situation but hard to tell without seeing the truck
