Unhappy install 3rd Brake Light 1997 Blazer 4 door

Need instruction's on changing out the 3rd brake light on 1997 Blazer 4 door. The Light is mounted on top of the glass lift gate, not roof mounted. Removed the panel from inside, but don't know how to get the rubber stopper out holding the wires from moving or being removed.

The rubber grommet that the wires pass through the body is literally just popped in. If you grab it and wiggle it while pulling from the outside or trying to reach in there and push it out from the inside, it should just push right out. There's enough wire on the body harness to pull the plug out of the same hole and unplug it and leave the plug on the body side hanging out of the hole while you swap the light. Then just remove the two Phillips head screws holding the light to the glass and pop it off and reinstall the new one in the exact opposite method.

I've had to change mine out twice now on my 04 because of condensation getting in it and killing LED's...

Thanks for the information on removing the grommet. I'll do just that.

Smile 3rd Brake light

Thanks , it worked. Got the grommet out and remembered to tie a string( or wire) around the wires to it so when I pulled it through the hole I could use it to guide the new one back through. worked perfectly. Thanks again.
