Default Interior Light stay on

I have a problem with my 97 s10 interior lights staying on after pulling off 2 door panels and replacing one speaker. I have the fuse pulled right now but thats a huge nuisance as now i have none of the other functions of that fuse. any ideas what might be causing this or where to start and the switches on the doors that activate that are still working. so if any one else knows what is wrong would be a huge help

You say the switches are working but are they connected? The switch being pushed IN disconects the power to the interior lights, opposite is true if the switch is out. Perhaps wires are touching inside the panel near the switch. That's where I'd start anyway, by checking as you pull off the panel if any wires are crimped or moved.

It almost has to be a switch that is not being properly compressed so as to break the ground circuit for the interior lights.

im having a similar problem with my 97 blazer, instead of pulling the fuse just pull the dome light bulb itself, thats what i do for now. until i figure out the root of whats wrong, i swapped out the door jamb switches both sides and everything was fine, after about a week it started acting like my p/side door wasnt shut again keepin the dome light on, i changed the p/side switch with brand new switches 3 times and that aint it if i figure it out before u do i will let u know what my problem was

Just a thought, but sometimes the simplest things get overlooked - is the dimmer switch on the dash turned all the way up?! Wouldn't that be awsome if that was the issue? lol

So I have the same issue and I would really like to have working cab lights. I checked all of the door jam switches and even the rear glass switch and the light stayed on. Help me please.

How did you check them? Have you checked the wiring for a short to ground on the switch circuit?

I know I have written a very detailed post about how to properly troubleshoot the courtesy light circuit, but I don't really have the time to look for it at the moment.

Ok, I'll look a little harder, thanks.
