Default Major Charging Issues

Hi. I have a 1997 V6 Vortek 2wd. I am having major charging issues. After I start the car and it runs for about 10 minutes, the voltage drops down to 10 volts. I can't get it to come back up. I've gone through now 5 alternators in the last two months, I've changed all the grounds & battery cables. I've also changed the belt, the tensioner, and the idler pulley. I went to start it again this morning and after 7 minutes, it dropped from 14.5 to 10 volts. Can someone please help? I've run out of ideas and really need this vehicle back up and running to full capacity. Thanks!!!

Hi. The battery is also new. I had it tested as well to make sure it wasn't defective.

Could be the PWM telling your alt not to charge so much after the engine is running

Try this mod

How are you checking the voltage? are you just going by the gauge on the dash? Check the voltage at the battery with a multi meter.

yea don't trust that vehicle gauge it may be faulty use a multi meter WAY more accurate gm didn't have the best wiring back then and the dash gauges arent the best either ...
