Melted Wire - Replace 1996 Blazer Positive Battery Cable
I jump started my battery one morning after it had died, and in doing so, i managed to melt the wire that goes from the battery terminal right up to the fuseable link between the battery and the alternator. My guess is that the cause of this was the negative clip fell off or had a crappy connection to the battery (I hate not having posts). The suburban and the blazer were parked side by side (no other parking arrangement was possible) and that made the jumpers a little tight....).
Bring on the smoke and me swatting the cables the hell out... and I discover a melted wire.
I know the part I need is part #15321065. I know that one of the three wires unclips from the wire coming from the power distributor, and that one wire goes to the alternator, (that disconnection work is already done, thanks karma), and one snakes down deep into the engine compartment somewhere. I am not sure where the end of this cable goes to get at it to replace. Anyone have any ideas?
Lastly, I was wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen, and if there were any reverberating problems afterwards with your electrical? I hope that other electric components are not damaged. Thanks in advance.

If that 3rd wire is the largest of the group then it should be the main power to the starter,
as for that ever happening to me no I can't say it has, but having a bad ground and cranking for a extended period of time would definitely heat up the wires enough to melt them, as far as other damage there SHOULDN'T be any but karma does hurt sometimes

Well, with a second set of eyes, I was able to figure out what I need. The wire that became a heating element went to the alternator, and burned between the fusable linkage and the battery. Going to the parts store to get a new one tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that this is the only damage done.
