Default One click from the solenoid no crank

Good battery good alternator removed starter went and got new one had old one tested. found out it was good so went back to trouble shoot reinstalled old starter an it worked so i returned starter an drove for a month ....then it happened again so i replaced the crimp connector to the control wire because the jacket was dry rotted and seemed like it had been wiggled to much from removal some me an prior owners i assume an that worked for another month or so and im right back where i started or failed to start i should say i searched on here an found a thread but it said something about a bad ground i dont understand since i assumed it was grounded straight to block an then grounded to frame firewalls etc
