Unless your truck is OBD2 and 1995 wasn't that far ahead yet, they had an OBD1/OBD2 hybrid and some were still OBD1 (I think). A 1996 and later DIC won't work with your truck.

I work with electronics , networking and computers so this project is a challenge and gives me an excuse to visit the local yards more ...

Full function DIC displays from '96 and up all use class 2 serial data sent from the newer OBD2 . I haven't found one that will use the serial data being sent from early '95 OBD - but I recently found a full DIC which does not have the external compass (all the OBD2 DIC's use) and the wire colors are the same as the 6 wire temp/comp plug except ofcourse for the two extras , (yellow & orange) .
