I have a '95 Blazer, and the parking break light stays lit. I replaced the switch, after reading a few threads here with the same problem, but the light still stays on. I even tried physically pressing on the switch to make sure a connection would be made. I'm pretty positive it's the parking break light, and not the ABS light. It's red, says "Brake" and below that is ((!)(P)). I'm assuming the "P" is for the parking break? Is the ABS light separate?

hows the brakes on the truck do they operate like normal ?

Check for leaks in the lines

Check if you have low fluid in the master cylinder

 

It means you have low fluid or air in the lines i have the same problem with mine and my brake pedal is soft but it could also mean that your parking brake didn't disengage all of the way.

 

I haven't got a chance to drive it much, but the little I did, the brakes seemed fine. Also, it's not low on fluid. Would a bleeding fix it, assuming everything else checks out fine?

 

is your parking brake engaged ? i mean slightly or maybe it got stuck ? play around with the release see if that helps

The parking brake release moves freely, and comes into contact with the switch; it isn't stuck.

Could the parking brake still be engaged, despite the release pedal moving? Like if the cable had stretched or broken? I wouldn't think that would trigger the light. Is the parking brake switch the only thing that gives input to the light? If a wire somewhere between the switch and the dash light had broke. Or frayed, might that cause the light?

 

Did you have a broken line that was recently fixed becaues the abs on this s10 suck. If you master goes empty and you get air in the lines just bleeding the brake manually does not work! What happens is the abs unit on you drivers side inner fender gets air locked. Your brakes will still work but the pedal is a little soft. The only way to fix it is to take it to a rael garage the has a really good obd2 scanner and have them do a brakes bleed procedure. what the scanner does it tells the abs to bleed and it starts pushing the air out of the abs unit. It cost me 50 bucks to have it done on my 98 s10 and none the same thing has to be done to my 95 s10

 

Perhaps the switch at the parking brake pedal lever is broken or misaligned. This would cause the brake light to stay on. You'll probably have to take the bottom panel of the dash out to get to it. It should be at the hinge point of the parking brake pedal. There is also a switch either on the brake master cylinder or just downstream of it (could be on ABS unit). This is to detect a loss in brake line pressure. You can follow the lines coming off the master cylinder to find the switch (they usually just have a single wire going to them). I would check to see that it is still plugged in properly.
