push button start
Ok so heres what I'm thinking. 03 Blazer LS 4.3. looks like i have a flat spot on the starter. Normally starts first turn. BUT a week ago turned the key and zip!!! Long storey short. put a battery charger on it, still nothing took the charger off. then after a few more attempts the starter kicked in. Did again a few days later,. same deal . Not big on the idea of reaching thru the passenger wheel well to do the screw driver thing especially in Winter!! was planning on adding a push button start to the solenoid for the odd time it acts up, but want to keep the key active for normal start operation. My question is , is it ok to leave the trigger wire connected to the solenoid and just add the wire from the push button? Am planning on replacing the starter in the spring, driveway job no garage so weather being what it is in Ontario winters waiting till its a bit watmer and dryer.

Sounds like what you want to do is install a remote starter. Would you leave it connected under the hood? If you secure it well enough, I would think it would be fine. I can imagine using lots of zip ties to keep the wire in place.
no remote starter thank you. used to sell them...royal pain when they go defective. Ai says i can leave the stock trigger wire in place which is what i figured but was asking for feedback since i dont trust Ai completely, since you CAN get conflicting Ai advice many times. Just planning on adding a push button and relay to activate the solenoid without having to pull out the screw driver to kick the started over manually when its sitting on the flat spot and the key does nothing.
Ah yes. You want to install a dedicated start button. What you need is a good wiring diagram to know where to splice in. I don't know anyone who has done that. It'll be interesting to hear how to do it.
P.S. What I was suggesting was a remote start switch. I have one I've used on my old Mustang. I should have been more specific.

remoter start swtch? as in remote car starter. figured thats what you meant. Yeah a dedicated start button.only need to use it when my starter lands on the dead spot. and doesnt want to crank over the engine with the key. save me from kneeling in the snow and reaching in too the starter with a screwdriver to kick it into start. pretty str8 forward install. wire button to a power source on the interior fuse panel and a ground, run the trigger line from the momentary switch to pin 86 on the relay under the hood (already have that installed and wired to power) and wire from pin 87 to the starter solenoid. I was concerned about kleaving the factory power connected to the solenoid but accordignto what I've seen and read from Ai i can leave it connected since i need it for my key to work. Hoping for a mild day or 2 this week so i can get it done. Ill keep ya'll posted.
