Default Rear glass/cargo light switch

Where the hell is the switch for the cargo area light/hatch ajar indicator, I've been looking and buggered if I can find it! I think it needs some attention as its flickering on and off if I have the hatch open, probably just needs some lube but I can't locate the damn thing.

Can anyone help please! Picture appreciated if possible.

Its a ground contact inside the glass hatch latch. So when part of the latch makes contact with the latch wall it closes the circuit and trips the hatch open "sensor". Mine wasn't getting its full cycle so it was sticking due to corrosion. Either spray some WD-40 on it and cycle it (may be a quick fix), or remove the back panel and clean it (long term better option).

That fixed my issue.

Ahh that'll be why I can't find a seperate switch then! LOL Thanks for the pointer, I've had the panel off and given the latch a good clean anyway this afternoon as I need to give the whole thing a good service as it's due it's annual test this month. I'll give it a good dose of some spray lithium grease when it arrives tomorrow and work it a few times (local place was sold out so I had to order some in) We live up a dirt road and have had two horrendously wet years so it's probably just full of nasty gunk!

OK, I've found a tan coloured plastic switch on the latch mechanism that controls the cargo light and gate ajar warning light. Inside it has a pair of contacts that run along some brass tracks which depending on the position of the lever moved by the latch either open or close a circuit and turns the light/warning lamp on and off. I've messed about with it for over an hour and can either get it to come on but not go off or be permanently off but I can't find the sweet spot that does both. Does anyone know if this switch is available anywhere new? I've looked on Rock auto but can't find it.

Have you tried 1A Auto?

Otherwise you're probably looking at a reclaimed part, the stealership or a pick yard

Not so easy in the UK as there was only about 500 of them sold here. The main importer and only official GM agent for US GM products in the UK Bauer-Millet in Manchester went into liquidation on 23rd December it seems, found that out when I got a recorded message when I rang their parts department today. I have got a call into a breaker that's lists them having a blazer in but its well picked over so the switch might not be there by now..

This is the part in the picture below, the white plastic bity with the two wires coming out of it except..................mine is different! It's tan in colour and has a socket for a flat plastic plug which has four terminals in it, so the wire is part of the loom and plugs into the switch rather than the switch having a trailing lead with a plug on it that then plugs into the loom. I'm hoping that this isn't a UK specific part and it's just a year thing otherwise I'm totally screwed unless I can find a used one somewhere here.
