Sticking Ignition switch easy fix
Hello all,
One of my 1st posts here, but I have looked in on the site a number of times for info. I have had a problem, and seen it talked about on here, where the key won't always turn all the way off when I go to shut my 03 Blazer 2dr, 4wd off. I saw where the parts were going to be over $400 dollars to fix it, and I don't have that kinda money.
Well, the other day it pulled that stunt on me again... at the house in front of my garage... and I decided enough was enough... I know that the little solenoid switches tend to stick after a while and that this was causing my problems, so I decided to try something. I unbolted the console and lifted it up as best as I could and sprayed everything around the shifter, and especially the solenoid switches VERY heavily... I then sprayed around the ignition. I turned the ignition on to the point where I could start pushing the button on the shifter and started working it... and I sprayed the area some more... After about thirty seconds on working the shifter button, I turned off the ignition and the key came out normally. I then sprayed into the ignition and worked the key back and forth several times, with NO problems. I can't guarantee it is a perfect fix, but so far it has worked fine for me..... I never thought that I would have to replace the solenoid... just needed to get some spray lube on it.... well I did... and it worked!!!
Just my .02 of a quick and easy fix idea....

OOOPPPsss.... I guess it would help if I said what I used. Sorry about that. I used a standard Silicone spray lube, for electronics and for softening and protecting the weather stripping. And now 4-5 days later... still not a single problem... which is saving my fuel pump as well, as it doesn't turn on and off with me fighting the ignition switch and turning it on and off.
