Stock plug gaps ?

Changing your spark plug gap will make the coil have to put out more voltage to jump the spark plug gap. By doing that, it in most cases will reduce the duration the spark is in the gap. Even .010 over should not be done. At least in my opinion. The manufacturer sets the specification to match the programming in the pcm. By changing the gap, you are messing with the ignition systems way of operating. Putting a bigger ignition coil in it will not change how much voltage it puts out. The ICM controls the coil and puts out as much spark as it needs. If your current spark plugs are gapped .010 over factory spec, i would re-gap them back to factory spec. Just my 2 cents

Even tho I agree with checking the gap on new plugs, Platinum plugs are not to be reset from the factory setting, If you feel the need to reset be care full on how you twist and tweak the tang as you can ruin the coating. IMO if you have one that is out and needs to be reset return it for another one. It will be cheaper for you in the long run
