Big 3... XS Power Battery ($$).... Hight output alternator...

Ive got one of the d3100 xs power batteries in my tahoe... its got a 5000amp maximum current output and somewhere around 1400 cold cranking... its also rather large and right at 100#

Proper grounds go a long way.

It really does not sound like he even has a serious problem, big 3 will get him where he needs. especially being, his blue lights are LED's, the reverse lights and front work lights will draw the most amperage. Big 3 would definitely cure that.

I wasn't trying to say what he should do but more of an option list...

I agree that the big 3 would most likely cure any issues he's having... the stock 100amp alternator should be fine and a battery that's in good condition should keep up with his power demands... but if he is wanting a better battery for high output... xs power IMO... is the way to go...

Anyways.. hope u get it sorted out

Thank you I'll try the big three first and if I still have the problem I'll try a better battery

Optima batteries were good years ago, now a days not so much. My first red top lasted 8 years, second red top was 3 years, in the last three yellow/blue tops I have averaged around 2 years before they become problematic.

Yikes, my buddy still has 2 yellow tops in his bagged s10 that have been going strong for 7 years now.

Ive heard claims of guys running the XS batteries for 15+ years without having any issues... still holding a good charge, output still high... and still holding rated reserve..

Old school optimas where great... but lately Ive seen a steep decline in their reliability and longevity... not sure on the causes

Proper maintenance is VERY important to battery longevity... letting your alternator keep them up isnt the best way of doing it. I for one top all of my vehicle's batteries off with a "BatteryMINDER" 11248 setup... Ive got quick disconnects on all of them... just hook them up when they wont be driven for a day or so... I try and do it every few months an have had great luck doing it so far.

Anyways... hopefully the big 3 will get you taken careof

He has the older, better ones... I run yellow or blue tops in the Jeep in pairs, but I think its the winch that is hard on them, but that's why I buy Optimas.

I blame Wal-Mart! Ever since they started selling Optima, they have gone for a s**t.

he has 2 compressors, and 3 amps on his, but, like you said, they are the older, better ones.

ad244, big 3 upgrade and optima yellow top. Ive herd bad things about their quality but it handles my lights ( all 7 of them) and my winch with no issues going on 3 years now.
