Default Upper Console Display and Gauges

So im on a mission now since i have swapped to All exterior LED's, to swap all my interior LED's and I have 2 questions.

The Upper center console digital display,... I havent pulled it down, yet. I was just curious if anyone has ever modified the color output it has, and if so what methods were used.

Also another quickie, do I have to pull the steering column cover to pull the gauges on my 97 bravada?

I think Ugly Monkey changed his out. I'm not sure how he did it.

On the Gauges...

Remove the lower valance cover under the steering wheel, there are 2 15MM nuts that need to be removed, this lets the wheel drop down enough to remove the gauges easily. If not they wont come out and you will do lots of cussing and fit throwing. You dont need to remove the covers around the column.

To recap

1: remove lower covers
2: remove nuts on steering column
3: remove dash surround
4: using a 7MM socket remove 5 screws on the gauge cluster.
5: remove gauge cluster.

After doing it several times you sorta learn how these things are put together. I had most of my dash out when I put in my overhead console as the plug I needed to get to was behind the dash, you could see it but not get to it. I replaced my instrument cluster for one with a tach. There simply isnt enough room to get the cluster out till the wheel is dropped. I really didnt want to try and pull the steering wheel as there is airbag stuff involved. The last thing I needed was to have it go POP!
