I first discovered this tape at a a Radio Shack and then later at a hardware store where it was sold for sealing outside AV connections (cable and antenna connections, etc.). In the last several years the same product has been sold as "Rescue Tape" and marketed for very many more uses including sealing pipes.

I'm surprised you cannot find it.

A Google search of "Rescue Tape" brings up lots of hits for that name but also others. Even West Marine and Walmart have it at least online.

Try also searching for "self fusing tape" as when I did that, I got a different but still overlapping set of search results. Maybe those results can give you an idea of where else to look.

I hope you can find it. You'll be glad you have some in your tool box.

P.S. Wikipedia page on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-amalgamating_tape

We've found a fantastic material, kind of self vulcanizing rubber.

Perfect to make protections against bending at a plug or such stuff.

It's called "SUGRU".

That is the same stuff that is called selfp-fusing tape in the states and is often marketed as "Rescue Tape."

And yes, I use it for strain-relief too.
