Default Wiring woes 85 S-series

When I bought my truck I noticed some cut/spliced wires under the dash. Didn't think much of it cause the brake lights/signals worked fine (or so I thought). When I turn on the headlights I have no brake lights. Then I noticed one day the tail lights are a little bright (like the brake lights come on intead). So my guess is the tail lights went out and someone did a hack job fix and wired it to the brake lights. The previous owner knows nothing about any wiring problems "fixed" on it.

I've searched high and low but can't find any wiring diagrams for the lights. I'm thinking i'll have to start from scratch and re-wire the whole system. I'm just not familiar with the wiring in these things.

If anyone has any input or advise I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks.

The simplest to do is take of the wire off that goes from the headlight switch to the brake light wire and extend it to the the tail light bulbs instead.
