Any one running Windows Xp 64 bit?
No, I agree on the ram. Most people will not use anywhere close to that in regular PC use. But it is so damn cheap!
I actually do use more than 4GB when I have FEA and CFD analysis' going simultaneously.

Thank you for the info guys. As far as the memory, I do use quite a bit as I multitask rather heavily doing web design, which is very intensive when you have 18 windows opens for html/php, 1 image program with multiple 2 meg images load at the same time, apache/mysql server running and an unlimited amount of IE and firefox for publishing purposes. And I run I believe 4 gigs if I remember correctly, its been a while since I did the build.
Really the only problem is firefox taking a dump with such high resources used.. Usually, firefox has a decent sized footprint on my 32 bit machine.
Oh and yes and playing COD4 and 5 with my GTS8800 is always fun as well
About Windows 7... I will wait until its released to even think of trying it.. I never even touched Vista yet.. have no need.
Latest windows software I am at is xp and 2003 server.

I have ran xp 64bit on my laptop (dell vostro 1500) I refuse to use vista or vista x64. I never had a problem with xp 64 except finding some drivers which was the main reason I went back to Xp 32bit. Maybe try the firefox beta's or google chrome. 64bit xp also felt a little faster than 32bit. Do you have all your drivers updated? Also what are your system specs?
windows 7 in its beta form is what vista should have been when it was released i'm really looking forward to the retail release. That being said 64 bit vista ultimate is just awesome for awhile i was dual booting xp 64 and vista ultimate 64 since some of the games I play did not support vista at first, while vista had issues at first, in it's current incarnation it is far and away the most stable and reliable os I have ever used (yes that includes several different versions of linux I had to learn for school while working on my networking degree)
Well, I have firefox installed on this bad boy, and it is SUCH a memory hog. Its emulated to 32 bit, and I hit a point where the footprint was over 1,000,000 K .... And I only had 2 windows open with maybe 10 tabs each.
Hell there are times when I have 5 windows open and 50 tabs in one, 30 in another, etc. on my 32 bit laptop.
I am looking into firefox 64 bit, I do not know why I never used their 64 bit program before, prob because it was in development...
But does anyone else who runs these softwares have these problems?

As far as the 64bit vs 32bit slant on XP and Vista: Went from Athlon64 and XP Pro to Athlon 64 X2 and Vista Ult. 64 bit to run Blue Ray on a Home Theater PC and the end result was SO OVERWHELMING, it's rediculous to even say the later config was even an Athlon.
I'm running the full 8 gigs of RAM and a pair of Nvidia 9800's in SLI. Even with SLI disabled it is stupid fast.
But hey, I had a baby coming - I needed to get the Blue Ray HTPC rig built before the baby got here if you know what I mean!

Intel dual core 4300
Nvidia Geforce 880 GTS 512
Foxconn Motherboard
4 gig of (do not remember ram specs)
dual 22 inch lcds
I need to update the system as some of the components are getting a little old... but as of right now she is the workhorse so its okay.
I would think it would be more of the sum of data in said tabs that's making it bog... Not sure I've ever had that many tabs open.
