I've never really hunted with a compound bow, i've only shot for fun with one

I came so close to getting it .270, but then the clerk said "we have it in stock in 30.06 for the same price"

I'm also shooting a Remington .223 WSSM, for such a small bullet it has plenty of power.
I'll get a pic of it later.

i have no regrets getting it in .270 win, they both seem to be about the same but the .270 is just a tiny bit shorter, i dont like shooting it not only cause of the price, but the other part is that it rapes my shoulder....

I know what you're talking about, mine kicks like a rented mule!!
I still kinda regret not getting the .270, it has a much flatter bullet trajectory compared to an .06 that lobs the bullet.

What's the cost of bullets in you're area?
Around here a box of Remington Core Lokt's run $16.99

No rifle season around here, but shotgun season opens this Saturday. I have been out making sure my stands are still there & secure. My cousin is coming out with us this year and I'm taking the rest of my vacation for the year off around Thanksgiving so I should be able to get a lot of hunting in.

I have a Remington 870 Express w/ a rifled barrel & composite stock. Love shooting that gun! Even with 3" sabots (I use Remington CopperSolids & Hornady SSTs), the recoil is very low compared with 2-3/4 sluggers in my Dad's 870 express smooth bore. Open sights & standing shots with no rest I'm good to 100yards with the CopperSolid slugs with ~3" of lift resulting in ~4" grouping. 125yards is easy with the SSTs with no lift, but I have about a 6" grouping at this range free standing. I tend to stick with the CopperSolids though because they are more accurate from my experience. And it's damn expensive to really try out other sabots...

I've been thinking of getting my handgun permit and picking up a Thompson Contender. Put a 14" barrel on it, long reveal scope & a pistol grip. Go hunting with that! A friend has one setup like this and it is awesome at ranges up to 250 yards.

No rifle season? Well that sure sucks! You hunt waterfowl up in NY?
