Go to the forum main page (blazerforum.com)

Scroll through the sections and decide where your question goes. (Lounge, audio, etc) then click on that link.

That will bring you to a page with all of the threads in that section. Right at the top, this button will show up:

Click that, and enter what information you need.

Automatics have torque converters, they hold a lot of fluid & when the trans is in gear the torque converter is pumping. By putting it in gear it will engage the converter & pump fluid through it. If the transmission is low (which yours is) the converter will take fluid out of the trans & not replace it - that's why it won't shift, if it is that low on fluid.
So when your line broke the torque converter pumped out the trans fluid & by just filling it you didn't refill the converter & it robbed the fluid you put in the trans.
I'm not sure on a Fiero but I didn't notice anyone mention checking the fluid in "neutral" on a flat surface with the engine running.

If that doesn't help it then like Random & others have said you may have transmission damage IMO.

I've always heard you check the fluid in either park or neutral, so I didn't specify it.

That's true.. for GM's anyway. But why would you check fluids engine running in neutral. Some trans require it BE in neutral but not GM or Ford, AFAIK.

Here's a good guide to it I found on Answers, covers everything. {dont usually do that.}

Answer

Make sure vehicle is on level ground
Make sure vehicle is up to normal operating temperature
Remove and wipe dipstick clean
Re-Install Dipstick
Run through gears (P-R-P-N-P-D-P-2-P-l-P) with engine running
Pull dipstick and read still with engine running

That's great & I see we certainly covered all the bases lol.

For those like myself who didn't know, AFAIK stands for As Far As I Know. That & many more though that don't actually fit with what pettyfog said.
