allright guys, getting closer and closer to summer. its got me thinking of what happened to me late summer last year. Stuff got stolen out of my blazer. It happened at about 3am and i was asleep. someone drove in and went through all the vehicles at my house. we have like 8 and nothing good in them (in case you're the one that robbed me) haha jk. well heres it is
what was stolen from the blazer:
1 gps unit tom tom ($300 bought it when gps were expensive)
fm transmitter ($50, one of the good sony ones)
a crap load of money: probably right around 200 , i don't know the exact. you're probably wondering why, well if i break down and need to pay for expenses i have the cash to do so.
what they didn't take (i don't know why they wouldn't)
thousands of dollars worth of craftsman tools ( need them for roadside maintence and at work to work on tractors, plus i like to be prepared).
my craftsman power tools, drills and etc.
what they took from my other vehicles:
a 2000 dodge caravan manual (yeah they're worth $$$, lmao , )
2 headsets for the dvd players in the cars.
gps unit out of a friends car
money from friends car
What i do to prevent thiefs now:
well after i say goodnight to the blazerforum, i kiss my 12 gauge shotgun goodnight. wish my baseball bat a nighty night, turn on the security cameras, let the dogs out of their cages (2 st bernards and 2 rottweilers),
since then i've put a security system on the blazer, with shock sensors, eventually will be equipped with a siren.
doors are locked all the time now.
What have you been robbed of? from your cars or your house?
what do you do to prevent it?

my friends and i were at the local speedway a couple years ago and my truck had a topper on it and some one stole my craftsman tool box out of the back. the funny thing about it is that there was a cooler of sandwiches and other food back there for the races and they took a bag of chips and left the rest of the cooler. Now i need to go out and get the gps out of my truck while ya got me thinking about it.

Out of my 2 cars
1997 Cavalier (2006-2008)
Pioneer HU
JL components
2 JL 12w3v3s
$10 worth of change/2 $2 bills
Fuzzy dice
Football Helmet (i was in high school)
Lacrosse Stick worth $20 (the shaft, not the head included)
And my little cousin's stuffed animal was taken out of the front seat while we were swimming at the local pool.. he was so bummed, but i went and bought him a new bear and he was happy again
2004 Blazer (2008-Present)
$20 while at the body shop
Kenwood Amp (at knife point)
Wallet worth all the money in it... $5
IPOD 30 gig
Garmin GPS
A cheap $20 tool set i use just in case of breakdowns.
My spare tire while at shop for brake work. (Someone stole my spare tire but not my system... must have really needed the skinny tire haha)
Nothing of any real importance was taken, insurance covered all from the blazer really and the shop replaced the spare

I've never had my truck broken into, but then again I never really keep anything of importance in there overnight or in parking lots anyways. I always hear people complaining that they're $200 dollar iPod or GPS was stolen, and I can't help but think "...uh well if you wouldn't of left it in there..." I guess the only thing of value I'd hate to have stolen would be tools out of my truck, but obviously not too many thieves are after stuff like that. I guess I'm just lucky though, being I live only 30 minutes from Detoilet! That's just two cents

Well my dad used to have a Toyota truck (not sure what model, I was really young and we sold it when I was like 5), and someone broke into it to get a bookbag that was empty. They probably figured there was stuff in it.
Other than that, none of our vehicles have been broken into, but my dad's house did get robbed a few years ago. They took a PS2, all the games, my grandfather's diamond ring (great sentimental value), dvd/vhs player, and a bunch of other things, but I don't quite remember seeing as it was a while ago. We never found the ring (searched througout pawn shops etc), but everything else was replaced by insurance and I do believe the ring was "compensated" for (of course you can't compensate for sentimental value.)

I've been lucky enough to never have any of my vehicles broken into. Fingers crossed it won't happen to me. To be honest though I don't have much worth stealing...some change...my ipod (which I could really care less about). My 233 pc socket set is the biggest thing they could take, but that's not always in my truck.

my neighbor had a sawzall and 2 ratchet straps stolen from the back of his truck
and then totaled it and they stole his ladder rack
also someone stole our boy scout troops can trailer, full of cans
the trailer wasnt worth nothing really but the cans were worth about 300
we made a new one and steal proofed it
(5 locks on every place we could find, plus the wheel locks, and chained to a telephone pole

I am fanatical about locking stuff down, but my wife is not. I always tell her to park the Caddy in the garage, and lock it. A few months ago, she did neither. Some kids (I assume), rifled through it one night and took only money. She had a bank drop from work in there with our mortgage payment in cash, in a money bag in the center console. Stupid, stupid, stupid!
They left the checks and took all the cash & coinage... about $900 worth! I was sick to say the least. I have had other stuff taken out of cars, but never that much. I have also had one ATV, 2 cars, and 1 custom truck stolen from me in the past. It really sucks when stuff like that happens.

Someone busted open my trunk with a crow bar on the cavalier and then with my blazer, the stuff was either taken from my car when it was at the shop and they didn't lock it, or when i was at knife point.. you don't think knifepoint is scary until the guy is 6 inches taller than you and about 100 pounds heavier (i'm 6 foot 3 and 220 pounds).
So, i now have a Viper alarm system on my truck and don't leave anything in it over night other than my sound system and radar detector
