What gets me (and surprisingly no one has mentioned) is that a broken CV axle will NOT cause an accident. Trust me, I know. One of my good friends has a chevy citation thats packing a cadillac 4.9l v8. He has snapped both axles several times and hasnt wrecked once. Usually he's able to get it off the road and call for a wrecker.

Youre right. 9 out of 10 times, if they snap going down the road, all itll do is just slow your car down. But, Im sure theres been a few times where someone has broken their CV axle around a corner or something and cause them to wreck.
