i love the bike. I can put some up in the gallery a bit later, but here she is in her current state.... just got TONS of stuff powdercoated so a bit more blacked out (such as swingarm and whatnot).

i take it you've ridden before? i would never ever suggest this as a beginner bike!

nice bike.

that's an understatement! a neighbour had on of those when i was growing up (a '85 or '86). took me for a ride once, fastest bike i've ever been on, need a GD seat belt (or a tether) to hold on.

$400-$600 bucks - did I read that right? if that's your price range, about the only thing you will find that runs is something from the 70's or 80's - maybe an old Seca or maxim that's pretty beat?
Seriously, if you can spend at least $1200 (1500 is more like it but this economy does really suck and it is winter, great time to buy) I'd start looking for a Ninja 250 or 500 - those make perfect beginner bikes.

Ooops. Here's a good thread on the issue. My advice is to not only stay away from bikes with more than 50 rwhp, but not to spend over $1500 as you will probably drop it. Use the first bike as a learning tool.

Sorry I should have been more clear lol, if that were my price range Id be limited to maybe a Huffy lol. I was actually think up to $3k but from the quick glance thru of the link you posted plus what you guys are telling me I wont need to (or want to) go that high for something decent

yea, i'd recommend a standard/naked bike in the $1200 - $2k range to figure out what you really want first. then go from there. even if u nick it up a bit u can usually re-sell them for right about what you paid.

lol. I got me a REALLY cheap bike I learned on.
1984 Honda CB125S. Got it for free when I was 11. I took apart the whole motor. Luckily all I had to do was new piston rings, and cleaned the carb out. Rode it only a couple times on the road because it isn't exactly street legal, and I don't have my endorsement. I'm hoping to get a bike in the next year or two, and get my endorsement over the summer.
