Default goodyear is recalling some silent armor tires

Goodyear recalls Wrangler Silent Armor tires | abc7.com

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- There's a warning for drivers. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling tens of thousands of tires designed for trucks, vans and SUVs.
The company says it's recalling six versions of its Wrangler Silent Armor tires made in 2009. They say the tire treads could separate from the tire and cause accidents or cause a tire failure.
Goodyear does say the separation would most likely only occur under "severe usage conditions."
Goodyear will replace the tires for free. The recall affects about 40,000 tires and will start by March 22.

Damn, I bought my Silent Armors in 2010. I may go see the dealer anyway and get them checked out. Don't want to find out the hard way that they were made in 2009 and just sat in a warehouse until they were installed.

The manufacturing date of the tire should be stamped on the sidewall, it is a 4 digit number the first 2 for the week and the last 2 for the year.

To add on to this. The last 4 digits will fall between 0109 and 5209. Also it will only be on one sidewall not both. If you take a close look at the DOT numbers are each side of the tire you will see one is longer. At least that is the way its been on every tire I've bought.

I saw this article too! I don't know why, but I ended up checking my spare tire and realized it was manufactured in 2005 lol. It has a little dry rot, but for a spare, I'll keep it on there.

Mind you this is probably due to people driving with their tires at too low psi for road operation. Tires that are low, build up a lot of heat and could cause glue degradation that hold the tread on the tire aka tread separation. And just because this is a chevy place...remember the Ford Exploders? that is what happens when you get tread separation on a high center of gravity vehicle, it flips, which most if not all wrangler silent armor tires will be on. But I have no doubt Goodyear has looked into this matter, and are probably just trying to prevent another catastrophe lawsuit(as we have seen happen to other car or car related companies..*cough* toyota *cough*).

Get serious you guys.. you KNOW you aint worried about 'em. You just want to get free tires.

Here's another thing... that tire aint just rolling down the freeway nice and quiet one minute and suddenly throw off the tread the next. But ... oh hell... why rant.
