Default Greased Lightning from Napa

Has anyone used this? I bought a quart from Napa and did my oil change, I was just wondering if there was anyone else using this...

I used Simple Green for my engine bay degreasing and it worked quite well. It certainly took off a ton of crud from the under-hood and didn't kill the grass in the yard. I'll change out the oil lines sooner or later (probably wait until spring) and give the undercarriage a good shot.

Just a quick warning about oil additives.
Some are wax based, some are sulphur based. You want the latter. A good mechanic once showed me what happens with wax based additives, he took the valve cover off of an engine, and sitting on top of the engine was a big ball of sludge that had formed from the wax additive. If that had formed in the pan and worked it's way over to the pickup, it would have destroyed the engine.
Personally, I go with a good synthetic oil (I use Mobil 1 Truck and SUV) and a good filter. That's it, nothing more. After 145K miles, I have found no sludge and my engine is running quite well.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

Any oil additives will do more damage than good (which they dont even do anything good)

If your worried about cleaning out your engine, run a thing of seafoam in it and change the oil every 1,500 miles. Thats one of oils main job is to clean the engine.

Just wanted to point out that the ONLY job of oil is to lubricate the engine, not to clean it. That is what all of the wonder additives are for.

That being said, I agree 100% with using Seafoam to clean your engine.
