Default Having Problems with my Laptop

I am trying to burn some music on a cd and my CD/DVD burner that is built in to the laptop can't find the burner or even find the cd/dvd that i put in the cd/dvd tray/burner. I have windows vista/ an acer 5100 and don't know what to do? Does any one have any suggestion? I had the laptop for about 2.5 years and have with a warranty with circuit city since they are going out of business i don't know what to do. I am going to circuit city tomorrow to see what i can do about the problem. THANKS

If the drive still shows in your device manager remove it and restart quite often that will force windows to recognize it as new hardware and reinstall it. If that doesnt work try this site
As far as circuit city the story I read about them closing the CEO said their warranties are covered by a third party (cant remember the name offhand) but as such the warranties will still be honored even when the stores are gone. Here it is Page 3 of this pdf is the q&a about warranties

If you go to Start > My Computer does the CD drive show up? if so whats it labeled? Does it say CD-RW or the like?

There are issues where vista doesn't support some burners. Was this a problem before? Did you recently move to Vista?
