my wifes truck is a 80 toyota 4x4 .it dies when it tries to idle i.e comeing to a stop light or going slow in traffic .she has to rev it to keep it from dieing .also when shes on the freeway or going at normal speed is seems like the engine will just cut off for a split second and kick back in .im confused it sounds like itd be the carb but maybe electrical .i really need a jumpin offf point its her daily drive now shes drivein my blazer!if anyone knows about the dumb trucks please help me out!

 

With it being carbed,id have the carb looked at. most carbed engines is either carb or coil issues.

Usually runs from the top wire on dist cap to coil...from what i remember.

 

yeh i know wherre its at but how do you know if it needs to be replaced ?are they pricey?
would that make it die at stop lights if you dont rev it or cut out on the freeway ?
