Just got a "new" shotgun!

Dang! That would have been great if that buck got close enough! Boy do I wish I even had the chance to see one that big around here. Have seen a few 8 pointers around, but that was only during bow season...

I shot an 8 point during bow season, but using a 2 blade broadhead, I had a horrible blood trail and lost it. Wasn't even a bad shot, just no blood. Didn't see a single buck during rifle or muzzle loader season.

Crap...that really sucks... I'm glad that the doe that I shot last year dropped right where she was at. I was pretty happy for it being my first dear lol

Very nice, from what I see on Merkel they make a fine firearm! Darn lucky your father works for them...I'm jealous lol

I did a little more digging on my shotgun recently and found that the stock had been altered, which I knew to start with, but now I think I know why. The person who had it before wanted the stock to have less of a drop at the comb and the heel, so they replaced the top section of the stock and used another recoil pad to fit correctly on the new stock. The recoil pad is a old Jostam "Anti-Flinch" pad that has a patent date of Dec 29, 1914 and Oct 12, 1915. This was not the original pad on this gun (from my understanding) the Jostam pads came on the lower to mid grade AH Fox guns. But none the less, the pad is at least the same age if not older than my gun itself. I just thought I would post this in case there were any old gun enthusiasts on here that might enjoy seeing this or can even correct me if I am wrong (it has been known to happen lol)
