Last trip to Home Depot.

Last trip to Home Depot.
I made my last trip to Home Depot today. They have removed cashiers and you MUST use the self checkout machines. I've worked since I was 14 and have 37 years at the same factory. We're not union but I will NOT take someones job away. The cashier might be a single mother with 2 kids and that is her only income. Just to make a little more profit, they have removed a job. It may not have paid that much, but it was a job.
My time is important and besides taking someones job, I have to work for the vendor. That's not gonna happen. I rarely go into Wally Wurld but regardless of how long the lines are, I'll wait for a cashier. Lastly, what if there's a problem with the machine. Who hasn't had a machine take their money and then look at you.

I never uses self check out , always a PIA
When they push to use it I tell them "why do I want to take away the cashiers job"
BTW I rarely go to Homedepot , we have a Canadian chain Home Hardware
The staff doesnt run in the opposite direction when you make eye contact and their lumber quality is sooooo much better

Wow I've never seen one where all the cashiers were gone. This reminds me of a joke i heard from Bill Burr ...
I don't want to post it because it has swears, but google "Bill Burr goes to the grocery store" for a good laugh.

Alas, it's not the Liberals. It's corporate America. I'm conservative but I am NOT Republican as the Republican party has changed. I'm not sure when they became proud to be red. It used to be "better dead than red" but now it's all about how red you are. It seems that GOP now stands for "Greedy Old Politicians". If Ronald Reagan or Dwight Eisenhower were to try and run for office today, they'd be laughed out of the party. Big business usually supports the Republican party and pushes for legislation to make their profits fatter.
I'll admit that I even think the Amish are a bit too progressive for me. I don't expect others to live like I do. I refuse to be treated as a cog in the money machine either.

when I put in the structure for our hot tub I needed 6X6's
Don't think I would have bought 1 piece of wood from home depot because it was all cracked and twisted
I have a family member in the lumber industry and he told me that the tag stapled to the ends indicates very low grade wood they sell
He said that if the same lifts showed up at their yard they would refuse it just based on the tags alone
BTW OG ,the Amish around here all have cell phones and diesel generators to power their farms but still use horse and buggies

My grandfather had a bunch of anabaptist friends. New and Old order Amish (New order has cell phones, old order doesn't) Dunkards and Mennonites. One fellow I know who grew up in an Amish household but didn't join the church after his rumspringe told me I lived an austere life style and the way I work would be a stretch even for the Amish. I have since changed jobs and I don't work 84 hours a week anymore. (Yes, I know, I'm a slacker.)
The main difference between old and new order Amish is the old order use horse drawn and powered equipment. New order use horse drawn but mechanically powered equipment. Cell phones are common but they are turned off when they go in the house. Land lines are in a small house outside. Neither one has any kind of wires, either electrical or telephone coming into the house as that lets the outside world come in. My first job getting paid to work on vehicles I was told to put a new battery in an Amish buggy. I thought the boss was messing with me and then he showed me the deep cycle batteries we kept charged for the Amish to run their radios during their rumspringe.
