i transfered to KELOWNA from VANCOUVER 11 years ago[CANADA] and am very happy here..but if i was living in AMERICA,i would live in a small townish kind of place,lots of wilderness,but still close to a major township something like in COLORADO,NEVADA,ARIZONA,MONTANA,etc..my sister lives in CALIFORNIA,they like it but it is expensive..i would suggest you look up real estate pricing,job postings,crime stats,and maybe even visit some places before you make the "BIG LEAP'..i cansay honestly that climate really makes a difference in how you exist...good luck!!

well, you could also go for the short time, High Salary, relocation!
