Default out with the old, in with the new

Well, i quit my crappy job with Hiway 9 Express this week so I could start my career with Home Hardware stores. I now run a highway truck for HH distribution center in Wetaskiwin AB Canada! My starting wage is higher than my 7yr wage at the old company, i get free uniforms (H9 charged us rental), the benefits are far superior (for my six kids), i dont share a truck, my truck is newer and more powerful and not beat up, I get anything they sell for cost plus a tiny bit, and this company has won an award for safest large fleet in Canada 4 out of 5 years! This is a helluva life changer and im glad I made the change for my familys sake. There really isnt a better company to drive for. My wage increase is going to be almost 30k higher per year, and the bonus program is unreal. It took 4 months to get on this team thanks to a few character refrences from my customers in town that use my old company, but well worth the wait. I have a 2 week training period of working the warehouse amd ride alongs, then im on the road again.

Anyone reccomend a good CB Radio and XM satelite radio?

WOW that's freaking great! I bet you're super pumped & the wife is too.
Like I've been told starting a new job & I laughed "don't try to change things... right away". References from previous jobs had told them I like to change things I guess. They said it was always for the better but every company has different ways of doing things & they were warning me sorta not to step on toes lol.

But back to you, that's awsome $30K more a year, better vehicle & especially family benefits, health etc. That's huge with 6 kids & a wife!
My brother in law had a similar thing driving long haul - better wage, better per mile, a partner that wasn't a drunk & was reliable, new Volvo semi. His perfect driving record with Kleysons & multiple awards proved he was worthy as it sounds like you are.

WTG once again & best of luck.

OK, here is some photos.

This is me in my new uniform.

And this is my new whip.

I haul Super-B trailer combinations now, allover western Canada. I love this company, everything about them is sooooo awesome.

Oh, and as for the stellar bonus program, the employees got 22% of their GROSS earnings for an xmas bonus last year. Thats like 20k for a freaking BONUS for christmas... Whoa.

They hired a professional driving examiner to come in a test me personally, even though I am already licenced to drive class 1 tractors in alberta, they wanted to make sure I am up to HH standards, not just alberta. I aced the exam BTW. I also aced my longbox and B-Train examinations too. I have about 2 weeks left on my training regime before they will turn me loose on my own - thats company standards.

I was also told by the driving instructor that it has been over one year since he has been in to test a new driver - that shows how often people quit and new people are hired... Nobody really quits, they retire with this company!!!

I am also the youngest driver here by about 15 years, and I have more kids than anyone else in the company LOL

This truck in an International Eagle 9900. Engine is a Cummins 450HP, 13spd manual shift transmission. This truck has got waaaaaay more ***** than my old Freightliner with a 230HP engine, and the Turbo in this truck is massive! I will be putting the HID kit and replacement sealed beams I got for my Blazer onto it, seeing as I wont be driving the Blazer for a long time.

For an XM Radio I got the XM Brand, near the bottom of the price range as it just has to work, doesnt have to be fancy. Got 365 days service for free, the unit was about $150.

For a GPS, I got a Garmin Nuvi 40, and Ive updated the look of it to have a Spooky count dracula voice, and I downloaded a sexy pornstar voice for it too, and the display vehicle is a big semi truck now! Pretty cool little toy, it has lifetime free map updates and cost me also about $160.
