I had one of those "**** that sucks" moments a couple of nights ago.
I was driving my girlfriend home from my place, waiting at the red light to make my left turn onto the main drag, I could see a car's orange running lights across in the parking lot. As I made my left turn I could make out the cherries on the roof of a Crown Vic and knew it was a radar trap.
On my way back from her place coming up to the same turn I hit a red light maybe a block away. While I was sitting there these two guys in a VW Rabbit 2.5 pull up next to me. His drunk passenger (who I can hear over my sub) turns to his friend and says "Race HIM!" I turned my head and smiled because I knew what was up ahead. So I turned my music off and revved my engine up to about 2500 rpm and held it there to make it sound as though I were taking off agressively. The light turned green and he took off like a bat out of hell, I let my revs fall back to ~1500 and continued on my merry way waiting for the inevitable. They couldn't see the cop because of the warehouse in the way.

That's when I got to the turn to get back home and saw the cop was gone... wiped the smile off my face pretty quickly. They're never there when you need/want them lol. It would have made my freakin day had that worked out.

lol, Das beschissen Auto, I'll admit though, he got some nice wheel spin off the line lol. My old BFG's would skid and screech all day long, but these new Michelin's wont let go of the pavement.

just thought Id share....but to make it clear I never went above the speed limit....

I was picking my dad up from work, and his buddy was next to us in his 199X 1500 4X4 w/350. we both turned right, onto the main road, and he was gunnin it, and falling back. I was doing maybe 30, and the speed limit was 55. I waited for him to start gunnin it again, then I dropped my truck out of OD, into second, took off, up shifted into D, then I was doing 55, so I backed off. I look in the mirror and there he was about 2 car lengths behind me HAHAHAHA..

My dads defense was "well his truck has 200,000 miles on it"
My defense was " mine has 184,000. whats the freakin difference, 16,000 miles?"

oh it was great. I dont know if it was considered as street racing. I was doing the speed limit, the only thing is, I got to the speed limit before he did lol

Yeah that's pushing the street racing barrier a bit... but at least you guys weren't speeding...

I had a friend tell me once... its how fast your are going that matters.... so get to speed as fast as you want and there are no problems.....

I was running through the back roads with my girl and my buddy was ahead of me in a taurus.. he had his girl with him... and he got stuck behind a truck.... so the truck goes to turn... so I put the pedal down and give it hell... i come screaming up from behind him and switch lanes... because he was almost to a stop because of the truck in front of him... I was probably 3~4 car lengths behind him... before doing this... I swing around him and scare the **** out of him.... and i pull in front of him and he decides its a good idea to get two wide on this road... so I pull away... and then graciously slow down because I knew the road would narrow and I let him take the way... plus I didnt feel like racing that much...

I'm just going to put the warning out that if we get too comfortable with "almost" street racing stories, a mod or admin may lock this down, and after 9 pages of replies, I'd hate to see that happen. I've never started a thread that's hung around this long.

I didnt really consider it street racing... as we did not get going to fast... But I see where you are coming from... slowly from one burnout at the light to get the guy in the next car to take off... and then someone is doing like 170 and getting a helicopter following them on a highway in california... idk... but I get ya... street racing is bad.... lets just go play in the mudd

Yep, consider this the warning about street racing stories. Remember that police can give tickets for 'contest for speed' regardless of what the speed is.
